In October 1939, Porsche designed and assembled three of the 1939 Porsche Typ 64 Coupes for a proposed open-road race from Berlin to Rome. Unfortunately, that race never materialized. After World War II, Austrian Otto Mathé acquired the third car and raced it in the early 1950s.

The 964 Typ 901 Prototype Porsche is often referred to as the "body-in-white" by mechanics, as it represents the raw car body before any components are mounted or attached. This prototype serves as the foundation for understanding how the production series car will be assembled.

At the 1981 Le Mans race, Jacky Ickx and Derek Bell (driving car number 11) secured another overall victory for the 936 model. They completed 354 laps, finishing 14 laps ahead of the second-place car. Their 2,998.3-mile (4,825.3 km) journey was accomplished at an average speed of 124.9 miles per hour (201.1 km/h). Sadly, the sister 936 car (number 12) suffered clutch problems and finished 12th, while the Joest Racing 908/80 (number 14) retired after an accident on its 60th lap.

The 2020 Taycan Turbo S is an all-electric marvel, boasting up to 750 horsepower on "Overboost control with Launch Control." However, it's the 774 pound-feet of torque that truly propels this vehicle, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 60 miles per hour (97 km/h) in just 2.6 seconds on dry pavement. The question remains: is this level of performance hard to resist or hard to avoid?
